In Yancey County alone we endured wind speeds at over 80 MPH and over 50 ft of water in some areas. Approximately 1,400 homes were destroyed and 2,300 others sustained major damage from the storm, and more than 200 landslides caused damage to several roads. During the first few after the storm our area began to see Jeeps, Side by Sides, and even mules roll in to bring supplies as the area was without water, power, communication, and some without food.
